Oberstar addresses stimulus in St. Paul

Rep. Jim Oberstar (DFL-MN) held a press conference on the economic stimulus bill recently passed by the House of Representatives on Thursday, January 29, 2009. The chairman of the powerful House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee outlined the potential economic benefit for the state of Minnesota and suggested Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s compliance would ultimately determine how effective the stimulus will be. Oberstar predicted 12,000 jobs may potentially be created by the highway and transportation portion of the legislation.
